Dryden’s Bill Salonen has received the region’s top honour.
Salonen was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame on the weekend at a special ceremony in Thunder Bay.
Salonen has dedicated himself to sports development for over half a century, serving as a coach and official for little league baseball, high school football and hockey.
He also served on Hockey Northwestern Ontario, Hockey Canada and the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
The SIJHL title is named after Salonen.
