The Town of Atikokan and the Provincial Government continue to work on developing the proposed bio-mass energy research facility.
Mayor Dennis Brown says the project is on track and running smoothly.
Brown says the request for proposals will be sent to the
private sector, institutions and University’s to see who is interested in
accessing funding to conduct research in the bio-energy field.
The research would examine the cost of harvesting, processing and
transporting biomass such as peat.
Brown hopes to have the requests for proposals out shortly.
The Liberal Government has committed $4-million to establish a
bioenergy research centre.
