One of the most versatile players in Dryden GM Ice Dogs history is moving on to play college hockey.
Blake Berg has agreed to play with the Concordia Cobbers of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the upcoming season.
In two seasons with Dryden GM, the native of Minnesota recorded 28-goals and 56-assists in 111-games.
He played both forward and defence with the Ice Dogs.
Head coach and general manager Kurt Walsten calls Berg the best two-way player in the SIJHL and stresses he’s a great young man both on and off the ice.
Walsten says it was a pleasure to coach the 20-year-old.
Team President Mike Sveinson says Berg brought a professional approach to the rink and was one of the most coachable players the organization has ever had.
Sveinson adds Berg filled whatever role they presented him with class and the usual high skill level that a player of his calibre brings to the rink.
The Cobbers are coached by former NHL’er Mike Eaves.
