Blockade/Protest Planned Friday On Trans-Canada Highway

Expect delays if you are making a trip to the Winnipeg area tomorrow. (Friday, August 9th)

A protest is planned on the Trans-Canada Highway right at the Manitoba/Ontario boundary.

According to Facebook, it’s being organized by the Grand Chief of the Southern Chiefs Organization in Manitoba and is scheduled to start at 5:30 in the afternoon.

The posting says “We will be delaying your travel plans for a good while.”

There is drumming and dancers planned.

The blockade is believed to be focused on Indigenous rights in Canada and achieving economic prosperity.
