Bob Nault Meets With Dryden Officials To Discuss Future

Kenora MP Bob Nault believes the City of Dryden is starting to turn the corner and getting back on its feet.

Nault recently met with municipal officials to discuss priorities moving forward and how the Federal government can help.

“What are the next steps now that we are starting to see the end of the tunnel of the fact that we had to be sticking to our knitting and not doing too much because we couldn’t afford it. Now we need to get on with the changes that need to be made.”

Nault adds “We are starting to see progress and I don’t see why anybody would believe that employment isn’t getting better in Dryden and the northwest as it is in the rest of Canada. I mean we have the lowest unemployment rate we’ve ever had in history.”

One issue Nault says needs to be addressed is the future of the vacant Central building in the heart of the downtown.

He notes people are currently looking at some proposals.

The Kenora MP did bring up one area of concern during an interview with CKDR News.

“I really worried about the media and the abilities of the media to be here in the region and we just lost our latest newspaper, that’s three in the riding, small newspapers, that have not survived.”

He says “I don’t think that’s good for democracy. I don’t think that’s good for communities not to have media outlets like that.”
