Most of the Red Lake area is under a Boil Water Advisory.
The notice impacts everyone in Balmertown, Cochenour, McKenzie Island and McMarmac.
Due to the loss of water pressure because of a recent power outage the safety of the drinking water can’t be guaranteed.
All water from the taps should be boiled for at least one minute.
The advisory is in effect until further notice.
The Northwestern Health Unit says by boiling water and storing it a container in the refrigerator, the water can be used for the following:
-Brushing teeth or soaking false teeth
-Washing fruits and vegetables
-Adding to uncooked food or drink
-Ice cubes
-Water for pets
