Boise Pulls Out of Whiskey Jack

A major American paper company has decided to stop using fiber from
the Whiskey Jack Forest North of Kenora.
Boise says it will honor a request from the Grassy Narrows First
Nation, which wants to end clear-cut logging on its traditional land.
Boise gets its wood fiber for its International Falls Mill from
Abitibi-Bowater, which has a license to log in the Whiskey Jack.
A confidential mediation effort to resolve the logging dispute has
been on-going for months.
