Boler Camper Reunion Passing Through Dryden

The iconic ‘egg’ camper is 50 years old – and coming to Dryden.

The ‘egg’ is what many called the diminutive Boler camper, invented, built and first sold in Winnipeg in 1968.

By the mid-seventies, hundreds of the little trailers were on the road, made popular by the first ‘gas crisis’ and a starting price of just 19 hundred dollars. The basic Boler was 13 feet long from hitch to spare tire. The actual camper was just 10 feet long, 6 1/2 wide and just over 6 feet tall – yet it was designed to accommodate a family of four!

The last Boler was produced in the mid eighties by a franchise manufacturer, yet hundreds remain on the road today, still popular because of their light weight and rugged (if quirky) construction.

A 50th Anniversary reunion starts Wednesday in Winnipeg with Boler coming from every province and several states.

The ‘Eastern Caravan’ of 70 plus Bolers arrives in Dryden from Nipigon Tuesday and will be stopping at Eagles Landing for the evening.
