Provincial Police and the Forensic Identification Unit have finished processing the scene at the Northern Lights Credit Union, after a bag with a threatening note was left there this morning.
Police were contacted around 9:30am about a bag near the rear of the building, with a threatening note attached that instructed staff to put money in the bag. The note also said if the instructions weren’t followed, then there would be consequences to area schools and businesses.
O.P.P set up a perimeter, but as of 1:30pm it has been lifted while the Credit Union remains closed.
Schools in Fort Frances will remain under “Hold and Secure” which means the school will continue to function normally, with the exterior doors being locked until such a time the situation near the school is resolved. The school’s dismissal will be operational as per usual at the end of the school day.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact O.P.P at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
