Bomb Threat In Kenora Deemed North American Hoax

One northwestern Ontario community was on the receiving end as dozens of cities across North America received bomb threats on Thursday.

Provincial Police responded to a call just after 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon in the Railway Street area of Kenora.

The threat, like others, were deemed as an extortion attempt and a hoax.

Police say the threats were sent via email, targeting businesses and institutions, demanding a payment in bitcoins.

The OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch is handling the matter out of Ontario.
