A new study by an Edmonton research group says Northern Ontario is losing out on its Boreal forest, and that is going to hurt its ability to combat climate change.
The study says a combination of logging and human disturbances are causing the tree cover to rapidly decline, leaving boreal lands with less ability to store carbon.
The report, by Global Forest Watch Canada, looked at images of the area’s boreal forests and tracked their changes between 1989 and 2001.
