Updated Numbers: Both Local Incumbents Back

Both Greg Rickford and Sol Mamakwa are heading back to Queen’s Park.

It’s not official as of yet but both are well on their way to win their respective ridings of Kenora-Rainy River and Kiiwetinooing.

Rickford cruised to victory and will likely remain in a high profile cabinet position when the Legislature resumes.

Mamakwa will be back to challenge the government as the NDP once again form the official opposition.

Greg Rickford (PCP): 9,231 (59.44%)
JoAnne Gustafson Formanek (NDP): 3,097 (19.94%)
Anthony Leek (LIB): 1,765 (11.37%)
Catherine Kiewning (GPO): 592 (3.81%)
Kelvin Chicago-Boucher (NBO): 385 (2.48%)
Larry Breiland (ONP): 270 (1.74%)
Richard Jonasson (CNS): 97 (0.62%)
Mi’azhikwan (IND): 93 (0.60%)

Unofficial results for Kiiwestinoong (47/51 polls reporting):

Sol Mamakwa (NDP): 2,531 (55.82%)
Dwight Monck (PCP): 1,420 (31.32%)
Manuela Michelizzi (LIB): 273 (6.02%)
Suzette Foster (GPO): 156 (3.44%)
Alex Dornn (NBO): 154 (3.40%)

There is a change of guard in Thunder Bay-Superior North with the retirement of long-time Liberal politician Michael Gravelle due to health issues.

NDP candidate Lise Vaugeois won the riding with 34.12% of the vote.

There’s also a new face leading the Thunder Bay Atikokan Riding as Progressive Conservative candidate Kevin Holland upset incumbent NDP representative Judith Montieth-Farrell.
