Braedan Pearce Leads Miners To Victory in Dryden

The English River Miners have finally solved the Ice Dogs at the Dryden Memorial Arena. In a game that featured just about everything the Miners survived a Dryden GM comeback and pulled out a 5-4 win in overtime. Braedan Pearce scored the winning goal 2:13 into overtime. That was his second of the game. It looked like the Miners losing streak in Dryden would continue as the Ice Dogs erased deficits of 3-0 and 4-2 to tie the game with 19-seconds to play. Eric Stout extended his goal streak to eight games with two markers, including the tying goal. Braeden Allkins and Matt Leniuk also found the back of the net. That was Leniuk’s first SIJHL goal. Nash Dabb, Trevor Pereveroff and Dwayne Auger replied for English River. Spencer Eschyschyn stopped 35-saves for the win, while Ben Dennis suffered his first loss with 26-saves. That was the first win for English River in Dryden since January 24th, 2015. The Ice Dogs still earned a point and lead the Miners by one for second in the SIJHL. The rematch is Saturday at 7:30 in Red Lake. CKDR will have the call starting at 7:15. In other action, Fort Frances dismantled Minnesota 8-1.
