There isn’t much surprise as Dryden Gm Ice Dogs’ Braeden Allkins has been named SIJHL Player of the Week.
The 20 year old native of Golden, B.C scored two goals against the Thief River Falls Norskies in two games over the weekend giving him his 50th goal of the season.
He is the first player for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to achieve such a feat and the third player to score more than 50 goals in a season since the SIJHL started.
He joins Kory McEwan, who notched 69 with the Fort William North Stars in 2005-06 and Chris Bryson, who supplied 56 for the Schreiber Diesels in 2006-07, in this exclusive club.
Allkins also currently leads all SIJHL skaters in offensive production with 93 points including 43 assists.
The English River Miners did not play last week, thus did not have a nominee.
