The Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit are working together to help women with breast abnormalities in the region.
Centre spokesperson Linda Spooner says the new program is available for women without doctors as well as patients who need more support.
Spooner notes the importance of early detection as about 680 women in Northwestern Ontario will discover a change in their breasts, and 20% will be diagnosed with cancer.
