Brown Outraged With Provincial Plan

The Town of Atikokan has survived mine closures, downturns in the
wood industry and other challenges but officials warn the final blow may
have been delivered.
The Province has announced that the communities Coal-Fired Plant will
close in 2007, resulting in 90-job losses.
Mayor Dennis Brown is outraged the Government has decided to delay
the closing of the Nanicoke Plant, which is Ontario’s biggest polluter.
Brown adds the Grits have ignored good science in favour of politics
and that the Region has lost an inexpensive and clean energy source.
He is also upset that the decision was made after the Legislature
stopped sitting.
