Celebrate our great country with songs from one of our most iconic songwriters and musicians.
Bryan Adams, who recently played a pair of sold out concerts at The Auditorium in Thunder Bay, is out with a new album filled with tracks that speak about stories, people and places that will resonate with listeners in a uniquely Canadian way.
This record is both a journey across Canada and a love letter to the country that Bryan comes from. You can tell that he has a lot of pride in his roots.
You’ll certainly find a lot of Bryan’s signature rock/pop sound on this album. You’ll also noticed that some of the music has more of a country/folk feel.
Let’s take a look at some of the choice cuts from Bryan’s new record.
“How’s It Goin'”
This title track takes serves as a snapshot of modern Canadiana, touching on everything from Vancouver rain and the CN Tower to political and social themes like the high cost of living, the housing market, and indigenous reconciliation.
“Lake Ontario”
This song serves as a direct, satirical response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order attempting to rename the body of water to “Lake America”.
“51st State”
Bryan is once again singing about how America’s current President is speaking about and treating our country. More specifically, it addresses rhetoric about Canada becoming the “51st state” of the U.S. While Trump isn’t mentioned by name, the lyrics directly address political tensions, tariffs, and cross-border politics.
“The Ballad Of Terry Fox”
Written to honour the enduring legacy of Terry Fox and his 1980 Marathon of Hope, this track is also featured in the new documentary film, “Run Terry Run”.
