The Buchanen Forest Products survival plan has been unveiled to staff
at McKenzie Forest Products in Hudson and Atikokan Forest Products.
United Steelworkers President Joe Hanlon says a vote on assisting the
company with deferring severance pay was held Wednesday.
Results of the vote won’t be released until after meetings are held in Dubreuil, Quebec and the Nakina Mill in Thunder Bay today and Saturday.
Last November, Buchanen announced the temporary shutdown of the
4-mills, resulting in the loss of roughly 800-employees.
