Budget Delay’s for School Board

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is not expected to present
its 2006 budget until late August or early September.
The Provincial Government has just released information on grant
allocations and the Board will see funding go down by $1.3-million.
Chief Financial Officer Dean Carrie says they took a hit in declining
enrolment grants as well as transfers.
Funding for transportation saw a modest 2.1% increase however
Trustess are concerned it will do little to off-set fuel costs.
Carrie says to balance the budget, the Board may need to make temporary
cuts to the furnature, equipment and computer budgets or take money out of reserves.
