Cautious optimism about the relaxation of the province’s health protocols for COVID-19.
Charla Robinson is a spokesperson for the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce and expects some businesses will be more cautious at the outset.
“Many businesses have told me that will plan to reduce their capacity a little bit just to make sure their customers and clients feel safe as we transition back to more traditional levels of capacity,” says Robinson.
She admits checking the vaccine passport was an extra burden for businesses.
“It is an extra level of effort to do for them to do that and there’s also a little bit more frustration sometimes from customers.”
Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, says the mask mandate, along with the isolation requirements when you are sick, are under review.
Moore noted that the mask rule will be lifted “simultaneously” across most sectors.
Premier Doug Ford told reporters on Monday that while we aren’t far away from a decision, the date could be after March Break.
