The Crimestoppers program in Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota had another successful year.
Detective Constable Garry Potter say they handled about 1,700 tips either through the phone or on-line.
He adds that this year they even were able to help out with a murder investigation.
Potter adds that from all their tips, they were able to lay 49 charges in 2008, most of which were drug-related.
