The latest report card from the Regional Food Distribution Association indicates that there was more food sent to food banks in the region in 2017.
Executive Director Volker Kromm says the organization distributed almost $2.6-million worth of food to its 44 food banks in northwestern Ontario.
Kromm notes it’s becoming increasingly clear the Association won’t be going away anytime soon.
He adds that food banks are now becoming ingrained in the community instead of being just a stopgap measure.
