Cable Billing Scam Hits Area

Dryden Police are warning the public about a scam that may appear legitimate.
A local resident contacted police regarding an email they received from the “Billing Department” of their cable company.
It said the most recent payment didn’t go through and there was a “click here” button to verify the payment.
The customer contacted their cable company and was told their account was fine.
Police say this was likely an attempt to get credit card information.
