The Provincial Government is being asked to make sure Northwestern Ontario has its own Emergency Management field officer.
Communities across the region have written letters of support for filling a vacancy in the Thunder Bay office.
Warren Brinkman is the Fire Chief in Kenora and says this region is simply too big not to have it own Emergency advisor.
Brinkman says if the vacancy isn’t filled, the closest office will be in Sudbury, which is just too far away, if a community in northwestern Ontario needs emergency assistance.
