Campaign Launched To Save Pine Grove Rest Stop

A popular rest stop between Kenora and Winnipeg on the Trans-Canada highway is on the chopping block.

Wayne Lovenuk says he only learned about the closure of the Pine Grove Rest Stop last week after receiving a letter from a government official.

He says he started up his petition a short time later.

“How does one notify the public. I think it should be up to the public to be involved in this as well. I was doing this because I knew about this. This isn’t the first time this has been quietly done. This is about round number three as well.”

Lovenuk says the proposed closure of the rest stop is the result of the Pallister Government cuts contained in the spring budget.
