Possible Canada-U.S. joint energy initiatives may come out of a two day meeting between Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford and U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz.
The two will sit down starting Thursday and Rickford is hoping they can finish the conference with some announcements on energy security plans driven by the crisis in Ukraine.
Other topics of discussion will be energy partnerships and clean energy.
Rickford will also push for movement on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
Rickford says an energy secretary from the United States hasn’t come to Canada in at least 7-years.
