Canadian Company Reacts To Repeal Of Net Neutrality Rules

The recent repeal of net neutrality rules in the United States is stupid, manipulative, shortsighted, and greedy in the eyes of one Canadian cyber-security company.

Beauceron Security CEO David Shipley says those rules were put in place to ensure a level playing field on the Internet, and to prevent service providers from limiting consumer access to any website’s.

Shipley says Canadians probably won’t be directly or immediately impacted by the changes, but he says stifling the kind of innovation that brought us Facebook, and Netflix could prove disastrous.

He says the government move is anti-innovation, anti-consumer, anti-free market and anti-free expression, calling it the single biggest policy setback for the United States in years.

Shipley notes the rules helped small startup companies compete with more established businesses.

He hopes Canada doesn’t look at this decision as a good precedent to follow.
