Canadian Jobs

Economists speculate the uncertainty in the global economy is
keeping Canadian employers on the sidelines. While the economy began creating jobs again in December, it wasn’t enough to keep the unemployment rate from edging up a notch
to 7.5 per cent across Canada. The increase of 17,500 last month was welcome news after two months of declines, but Statistics Canada notes all the gains were in the weaker categories of part-time and self-employment. Full-time work fell by 25,500 jobs. The jobless rate in Ontario sits at 7.7% compared to 7.9% last month.
