Carbon Monoxide Detectors Now Mandatory

It’s now the law.
As of today the province of Ontario has made it mandatory for all homes to have carbon monoxide detectors.
Dryden Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the whole Fire Service has been advocating for Bill 77 to pass.
Kurz says they have responded to several carbon monoxide alarms and stresses they have had several close calls.
He adds a lot of people have been buying their own, without waiting for a law to be told to do it.
Carbon monoxide detectors have been mandatory in all new builds since 2001, but now older buildings are required to have them too.
The fine for not having a working carbon monoxide or smoke detector is $235.
