He was born on September 23rd, 1919 at Maple Island, Ontario. During the first years of the war he moved to Parry Sound and found work nearby at the Nobel explosives plant. He later transferred to the Welland Chemical munitions factory in Niagara Falls. During this time he met the love of his life and best friends, Eileen Wright, whom he married in 1945. His untiring work at the Legion earned him an honorary Legion membership. He was a past member of the original Dryden Flying Club and the Dryden Conservation Club. He was also a member of the Dryden Go Getters, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, and Local 105. After his retirement, Carman enjoyed many years curling with the 60 Plus Curlers. In the summer he spent many hours in his garden growing vegetables and roses for his family and friends that he loved so dearly.
