Carol Anne Valade (Foote)

December 24, 1936 – July 8, 2010

“Our Christmas Carol”

Daughter of Scotty and Liz Foote, courageously battled cancer twice in the past 7 years before passing away in the wee hours of the morning on July 8, 2010.

A woman of immense compassion, Carol brought comfort and happiness to her entire family and all her many many friends. With a wicked sense of humour and fantastic high spirit, Carol saw only the best in people and constantly pulled the positive from life. She welcomed every new member of our ever-growing family and with all those she met, formed true and long-lasting friendships.

Carol enjoyed the past 27 years with her surviving husband Marcel Valade, spending the last 3 years in their wooded retirement mecca on Eagle River. It was as if a higher power had a hand in last summer’s unexpected “family reunion” where almost everyone managed to get together and enjoy a chaotic and wonderful vacation at their beloved riverside home.

Carol is survived by her and Marcel’s 4 children and their families: Judy Terry and Ray Savage, Scott and DawnMarie Terry with their children Dylan and Cynthia, David Terry and Jane McInnes and Eric and Kristan Valade and their children Jasmine, Heather and Sage. Carol is also survived by her brother and his family Rob Foote and Ken Smith with son Robbie John Foote and her sister Paterson Higgins and her children Dawn and Michael.

Following cremation the family received friends at their Eagle River Home Saturday, July 10th. Should friends desire donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made through the Stevens Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be emailed to sympathycard@shaw.ca subject: Valade.

The family would like to say “Thank-You” to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Dryden Regional Health Center and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center. Their incredible personalities, expertise and experience made Mom’s difficult time so much easier.

Mom, I will miss you, my friend…

I will take with me always your tremendous sense of humour and wit.

I don’t think I laugh as hard with anyone else as I do when I’m with you.

All those hilarious situations (that could only happen to you) I will remember forever.

You will always be my greatest gift, my friend forever, my immeasurable mother.

Love, Jude
