Carolyn Bennett Applauding New Ministry

Canada’s Minister of Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs says the split of her previous ministry has worked well so far.

Speaking in Washagamis Bay First Nation, Carolyn Bennett says the creation of a Ministry dedicated to Indigenous Services has been paying off.

Bennett says the move has been fantastic, noting it was a recommendation of the Royal Commission 21-years ago.

She says the old way of doing things had a colonial structure and they are on the right path now.

Bennett says she’s also talking about relationship building with First Nations communities under the federal government’s new framework agreement.
