The Northwestern Health Unit is teaming up with other agencies to help you quit smoking.
The ‘Would U Rather’ contest is being held in January and smokers can now register with the chance to win up to $5,000 if they cut the habit.
Youth Engagement Coordinator Catherine Kiewning says quit-to-win campaigns show high rates of smoking cessation results among young adults, as opposed to quitting cold turkey. (Success Rate of 5%-7%)
Kiewning says this contest has proved to more than double the chances of quitting, or at least cut back on the number of smokes used during the course of a day.
The initiative is aimed at young adults aged 18-29.
