Catholic Board Consulting With Province On Reopening Plans

The Northwest Catholic District School Board says it will be working closely with the local health unit and the Ministry of Education on developing a school reopening plan for September.

Director of Education Brendan Hyatt says a lot of work lies ahead.

“Things like whether social distancing needs to be in place. Whether we can keep our playgrounds open or use our gyms. There’s a lot of ‘what if’s’ right now that we are working on and we will continue to work on those things and ensure parents that we are going to put things in place to ensure that everyone is safe.”

Hyatt adds they will need to determine if more Personal Protection Equipment will have to be purchased or if their school cleaning policies need to be strengthened.

Hyatt stresses the health and safety of students and staff is his main priority.

He notes in the meantime they will be continuing with Phase 2 of their on-line learning program.

Hyatt also delivered the following message to staff.
