The Northwest Catholic District School Board says it’s still conducting a thorough review of the extensive new health and physical education curriculum introduced this week by the provincial government.
Director of Education Rick Boisvert says they knew it was coming, but notes it’s not all about sex education.
Boisvert does likes the way mental health has been integrated into healthy living for students, which he feels is a much bigger component than the focus on sex education.
Boisvert doesn’t foresee any issues with the curriculum being taught in their schools starting in September, but he would like to ensure catholic values remain at the forefront.
