A key administrative vacancy to fill at the Kenora Catholic District School Board, which oversees St. John’s in Red Lake.
Director of Education Phylis Eikre has surprised many by announcing that she will be retiring at the end of January, 2019.
Eikre says she wanted a chance for the board to take its time to find a replacement.
She is just the fourth director employed by the separate board and has held the position for the past ten years.
Chair Frank Bastone says they expect to begin the job search shortly, stressing the successful candidate will have big shoes to fill.
Human Resources Manager Tina Sinclair has also announced that she will be stepping down at the end of this year.
