Catholic School Board Budget

The Northwestern Catholic District School is going into the 2010-2011 school year with a balanced budget.

The budget for the year is just over 19 million dollars.

Director of Education Mary-Catherine Kelly says the money will be spent on full-day kindergarten programs, teacher development to increase student literacy, and smart board technology.

Kelly says the smart board technology enhances the learning experience.

Kelly says in three years the school board wants to have a smart board in every classroom.

The budget will also fund all-day kindergarten at St. Joseph’s School in Dryden, which was left of the funding list from the Ministry of education.

Additions will be made to St. Micheal’s school in Fort Frances so it can support the program in 2011-2012.
