Officials at Abitibi in Fort Frances still don’t know what caused an effluent line to spring a leak.
Environmental Services Director Gary Rogozinski notes the line, which is buried 8 feet underground, was inspected by camera from the inside just days before the leak on May 10th.
Rogozinski concludes nothing definitive caused the mishap.
The Ministry of the Environment was satisfied with the cleanup effort.
The incident forced the shutdown of all three paper machines at the mill for almost two days.
