Cause Of Pikangikum House Fire Still Not Known

Ontario Provincial Police are expecting to end their investigation this week into a fatal house fire on the Pikangikum First Nation.

The blaze killed six adults and three children.

The remains of the deceased are going to be transported to the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto, where post mortem’s will be conducted.

As well, a Forensic Anthropologist is currently on scene working with several members of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.

The cause of the fire still has not been determined.
