Our golden years appear to be getting a lot lengthier with more than 78,000 centenarians expected to be living in the country by the year 2061.
The B-MO Wealth Institute is out with a report called ‘Living to 100: The Four Keys Of Longevity’.
It outlines factors you should take into consideration when planning for your later years as our average life expectancy climbs.
The first is financial security especially when it comes to health-care costs.
The report says Canadians expect to spend on average more than $5,000 per year on out of pocket medical expenses after the age of 65.
The second is the maintenance of proper health, the third is mental alertness and the fourth is social factors like taking part in social activities.
