Local medical organizations and agencies are celebrating National Nursing Week.
The theme this year is #Yes, This is Nursing.
Alexis Peplinski is a nurse practitioner with the North West Local Health Integration Network and she reminds people that nurses work in more than just a hospital setting.
She says you’ll see nurses working in all kinds of settings, including long term care homes, family health clinics, hospitals, jails and community care.
Peplinski adds that nurses also have to adapt to a number of duties including public health, emergency care, pediatrics and urgent care.
She says the industry continues to change on a daily basis.
National Nursing Week runs until May 12th.
