Ontario’s labour community is using this Labour Day to remind workers about what they’ve achieved and what the PC government is trying to do to those gains.
The past year saw labour rally against cuts to education, health care and other public services.
Ontario Federation of Labour president Chris Buckley says seeing young people get involved was encouraging.
Buckley says “We encourage young people to join us because they are the future of this province, they are the future of this country. They are going to help shape the landscape of this project going forward.”
He says the importance of a united front has become more vital than ever.
Buckley says the most disappointing setback has been Premier Ford’s decision to ignore repeated requests to meet.
He notes he has requested a meeting on four separate occasions and has yet to receive a reply.
The O-F-L is promoting a campaign entitled the Power of Many, a rallying call to protect workers rights.
