The latest figures released by Statistics Canada show the two-parent nuclear family is increasingly rare.
In 2016, for the first time, one-person households became the most common type, at 28.2-percent.
In the Kenora District that number was a little lower at 25.5 percent.
Stats Can suggests our aging population is a likely reason for the increase in single-person households.
The figures also show the number of single parent families has gone up 5.6 percent in the last five years.
