The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers is expressing relief now that its 500-members at the Dryden Domtar Mill have ratified a five year contract.
Local National rep Stephen Boon says the deal follows nine months of tough negotiations.
Boon notes workers agreed to maintain the status quo in Dryden and avoid the difficult times most eastern Mills are facing.
He says it meets the pattern of what’s happening in Eastern Canada.
Boon says workers will now slide into year four of a five year agreement and that makes it an easier sell knowing they will be back at the bargaining table in a couple of years.
