Members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union have ratified a new Labour Adjustment Deal with Domtar related to the recent layoffs at the Dryden Mill.
Local official Stephen Boon says the agreement attempts to lessen the impact of the job losses by offering labour adjustment assistance, early retirement packages throughout 2009 and the opportunity for enhanced voluntary severance.
Boon says roughly 225-CEP members will remain at the Mill, with another 300 to 400 members remaining in the woodlands operation.
