Chambers Of Commerce Reporting Lack Of Talented Workers

The Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce is reacting to a provincial Chamber report on a lack of talented employees in the labour market.

Charla Robinson says younger folks are now trying different things, instead of concentrating on one job and moving up the corporate ladder.

Robinson points to generational differences.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce surveyed businesses province-wide, with 77% of respondents indicating low confidence.

The figure was 60% a year ago.

Robinson says the way to change that is working with the education system to make students more aware of the positions available.

She notes there are mining and electrical opportunities available.
