Charges Laid Following Fort Frances Standoff

A 34-year-old Fort Frances man has been charged following a stand off with police.

Provincial Police say Chris Palubeskie has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless storage of a firearm, and uttering threats.

Police were called to a Second Street East home on Tuesday night with reports that Palubeskie had locked himself inside the residence.

On Wednesday morning, over 11-hours later, he surrendered peacefully to police.

He has been released from custody on a promise to appear in court next month.
