Charges now laid following police standoff

A 25-year-old man from Red Lake is now facing charges following a police standoff earlier this week.

The man was arrested after he had barricaded himself inside a cabin at Sportsman’s Lodge on Little Vermilion Lake, located about 20 kilometres north of Red Lake.

It happened on Monday, July 29, at 7:15 a.m. and concluded at around 2 p.m.

The incident forced the closure of the lake.

The man was taken to hospital for further assessment.

He is now facing several charges, including assault with a weapon, mischief and break and enter.

He is being held in custody pending a court hearing.
