Chief For A Day Essay Contest Has A Winner

The Chief for a Day Essay contest in the Lac Seul First Nation has found their winner!

Mahoney Trout has been selected and she will get the full experience of being a chief in the community.

Principal of Obishikokaang Elementary School Steven Korobanik says Trout was the winner since her essay says she wants to make improvements in Whitefish bay as well as many improvements in her home community of Kejick Bay.

Korobanik says this contest is beneficial since it gets kids thinking of bettering their communities and getting involved in leadership roles.
