Child Abandonment In Thunder Bay

A 17 month old boy is recovering with family members after police say his father abandoned him in sub zero temperatures in Thunder Bay. The toddler was taken to hospital Sunday night suffering from frostbite after being left in a vehicle for six hours. Police say the father went into a friend’s home and stole a laptop to be able to buy some drugs. The man is charged with child abandonment, duty of a person to provide necessities and theft under five thousand dollars. Childrens services has been contacted to do a follow up investigation.
